"Just died after 7 years. aboout 1 year ago cheesy plastic handle broke but called company 800 # and the sent me handle free + back-up and I got it in about 4 days and took maybe a minute to replace with no disassembly required.
Coppert tank ultimately corroded thru. A handy item and generally quite satisfied. Install is very easy."

DO NOT BUY!!
|
Date: January 24, 2009

"We purchased the HOT-1 as part of a kitchen remodel in June 07. We have been very disappointed - very loud rumbling when heating up every 20 minutes, leaking around the gasket where it meets the countertop, and inferior plastic handle that feels like it will break at any time. We are fearful of a major tank leak under the sink! We are currently looking to replace with H-WAVE-SS for the stainless steel tank, quieter heating intervals and solid brass/metal handle. I would not recommend this product to anyone!"

broken handle
|
Date: December 5, 2008

"I have used this product for a little over a year. The handle broke today. This is the first time I owned this brand instant hot water heater. This one is noisy and the handle braking in just a little over a year makes me think the product is inferior to the other brand, I owned for far more years."

I can't do without this!

"I've had one of these (exact same model) for over 6 years. I LOVE it! I had used one at my friend's house and immediately got one of my one. It was easily installed, and worked perfectly until it finally just died -- the element wore out. I think six years was a great life span and I had ZERO problems with it during that time. I just bought a new one and it is working great! I would recommend this to anyone that makes hot tea, instant soup or just likes to get boiling pots of water started ultra fast!"

"Yep...Mine broke too. It does heat the water well. It also makes loud noises when it heats up. Parts seem hard to find."

HOT-1 is very loud
|
Date: January 19, 2008

"We installed this hot water dispenser in July during a kitchen remodel. It performs well in terms of delivering hot water and we have found it easy to use, clean, and we enjoy having instant hot water. It unfortunately is also VERY loud when it heats the water in the tank. About every 20 minutes when it heats the water it makes a very loud rumbling sound that is loud enough to disrupt coversation or distract us from watching a movie in the next room. Friends who come over for the first time always stop mid-conversation to ask us what the noise is. We contacted InSinkErator and followed their directions for lowering the temperature setting and while it helped a little bit it is still loud. We inquired about insulating the heater under the counter but InSinkErator indicated that insulating the tank would violate the warranty. The rumbling only lasts a minute but we will never put in another tank hot water dispenser."

Loving it!

"I have had this in my home for just over two years now, I absolutely love it. It's nice to have hot water on demand when you need it. One thing I like to point out when recommending it is that the water does not dispense faster if you push harder on the handle. The flow is not that of a regular faucet as this is a smaller unit. Works great for me!"

"The handle is the weak link. Get the HS 770 or the HS990 they last about 5 years before the tank leaks."

Insinkerator Hot-1

"The black plastic handle broke off of my unit but I'd like to replace it. The water is hot and makes a great cup of tea. Does anyone know if I can purchase that part? I have had it over 1 year. I should have purchased a higher end insinkerator unit. Hopefully I can purchase this part since everything else works well."
