Shipping Methods
From the biggest product to the smallest part, we ship it all (mostly), and every shipment method we use is trackable and insured. Below is a list of our shipment methods and their shipping times. All shipment times are shown in business days, which are Monday through Friday (no weekends), excluding holidays. Shipment times are average, and remote locations, shipments during the winter holiday season, and cases of extreme weather may exceed the mentioned shipment times.1
- Standard Shipping – This means UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS, or some other common carrier that provides insurance and tracking. Shipments often need to be signed for, but shipments can be left at driver’s discretion. Items shipped by this method have several “speeds”:
- Super Saver Shipping: This is our usual “Free Shipping” method. Shipments that are eligible for Free Shipping will have this option. Shipment times are 7-10 business days.
- Standard Ground Shipping: A slightly higher priority, these orders are processed before Super Saver shipments. Standard Ground shipment time is 5-7 business days.
- Second Day Air: The shipment time for this method is two business days. For example: The item will ship on Friday (not counting Saturday and Sunday), and the day after the ship-day is the first day. We recommend using this method for shipping to non-contiguous states and territories (ship time to these locations is 2-3 business days).
- Next Day Air: The shipment time on this is one business day. An item will be delivered the following business day if the carrier receives that item in time for their daily cut-off (varies by carrier). NOTE: When choosing this method, please be aware of expected-time-to-ship of the products (warehouse turn-around).
- Freight or “LTL” Shipping – This is reserved for large, heavy, or oversized items like large sinks, bathtubs, shower doors, etc. Items are palletized and loaded onto a large truck for shipment, then delivered by scheduled appointment by lift-gate for to-the-curb service. All items must be inspected for freight damage prior to the driver leaving. Shipment time is 7-10 business days.
- White Glove Delivery: This service includes delivery of the items inside your home, into the room of your choice*. As part of this service, the carton and packing materials are removed and disposed of. We highly recommend this option for larger, heavier appliances.
- White Glove Delivery is a premium service, and is available for an additional charge. Because of the care of handling in transit, white glove delivery usually spans 10-14 days. Please contact customer service for details.
*Note: White Glove Delivery Services apply to single-storey deliveries only. Deliveries involving more than 5 stairs will be subject to additional charges. Please contact customer service for more details.

Canadian Shipments
All shipments to Canada are first sent to our consolidation center in order to generate all documents required by customs. All orders will then ship complete from the consolidation center to the customer. For all Canadian shipments, please add 5-7 days to the normal United States shipment times.
In addition:
- Charges will include all applicable taxes and duties, and no COD fees will be charged at the time of delivery
- We are currently only offering standard ground and LTL service to Canada
- If you wish to cancel any shipment, you can do so up until the time it’s left our drop ship vendor. Once the items are en route to our consolidation center, it then becomes a return and restocking fees may apply
- All charges and credits are done in US dollars, ImprovementDirect.com is not responsible for changes in exchange rates or any fees you incur from your bank for currency exchange.
- By ordering goods from Build.com, you hereby authorize Build.com, Inc.'s licensed Canadian customs broker chosen by Build.com, Inc. to act as your agent, and to transact business with the CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency) to clear your merchandise, account for duties and taxes, to return merchandise through Build.com, Inc.'s Licensed Canadian Customs Broker, and prepare and submit refund claims on your behalf for any merchandise that you return. In this connection, you also authorize the customs broker to endorse any refund cheque issued by the CBSA in your name, so that Build.com, Inc. can be reimbursed.
IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT FREIGHT DELIVERY
Carriers prefer to make a delivery with the person who originally placed the order. In the event that you would like someone else to receive the delivery on your behalf, please contact our customer service, and we’ll be glad to make that change for you.
During the delivery process the carrier will require the merchandise to be signed for, and it’s very important to inspect the delivery carton for any creases, tears, dents, or holes. Should any of these damages exist, please write that information on the face of the delivery receipt.
Failure to properly notate damages or shortages will waive our right to file a claim against the carrier on your behalf.
1 Shipment time is the expected time from when a package leaves the warehouse, enters the carrier’s service, then arrives at the customer’s shipment address. Expected Time to Ship, which is the time from when an order is placed to when an item is given to the shipment carrier, varies by product. Please read your product’s details for further information.
